Japan has always created some of the most incredible fabrics in the world. We usually have a variety of colors, weaves, and types, from traditional to unusual. Most are excellent condition vintage silks, wools and cottons. Some are cut to your order from a bolt of vintage fabric, and some are pieces that used to be kimono, now taken apart for you. The selection always changes - most are one of a kind and they often sell out quickly. Find your treasure!
Care: TEST A SWATCH FIRST. Dry cleaning might be the best way; to be safest, have your dry cleaner test a swatch first, then see if you're happy with the results. Hand washing may work as well, but still, test first. These fabrics are old. Many were produced in unique ways in workshops, by artists, possibly with natural materials that don't even grow in the U.S. And possibly with many techniques in one fabric. They weren't commercially produced. Most Obi fabrics are not designed to be cleaned at all.
Your fabric may have been made with natural, obscure dyes and techniques that are undocumented and mysterious. Which is why they're so unique. Breathtaking. Miraculous. Sooo... Test First.
