Portraits of Pottery on Gray, Handwoven Vintage Ikat Kimono Silk Pongee, from Japan By the Yard #268
Medium gray background with tiny sashiko-like 'stitches', actually woven in the ikat, depicting pottery of various shapes and sizes through the bolt. Then every few inches apart, two portraits of pottery in deep golden brown, rust, black, greens and oranges. Thin, light, with a bit of sheen, this handwoven ikat is a bit crisp and also a bit supple and drapey - not bouncy at all. A true ikat, both sides are the same. The gray glistens to subtle silver. The portraits look like cross-stitch and their colors are brighter than the photos; sorry. One selvedge is light orange, the other pinkish purple. 14" wide. Sold by the full yard and we'll cut yours in one piece from the excellent condition, never used bolt. 100% Silk, handwoven in Japan probably decades ago. Label reads handwoven pongee 100% silk, and if you're first to order 3+ yards you'll get it and and the fringe too, free.
