Embroidery Jungle Vintage Kimono Silk 7" x 14" #4179

The base silk is an artist's abstract:  saturated, endless greens, browns, golden orange and peeks of aqua. On that base is a print of hand-drawn masses of graceful leaves of many types, in lighter greens, where the artist used resist and a fine pen. Then on top, a thousand leaves outlined in what looks and feels like soft golden yellow embroidery stitches, but is actually a unique, difficult jacquard.  No flowers, only leaves; rare for Japan. Complexity and jungle colors that evoke the rainforest. Another art textile from Japan. This silk was once part of a kimono and is in perfect condition.
