True black and dark red combine in this intricate ikat from Japan. The "Shokko" design is just red and black, connected octagons and rectangles with patterns inside.  It's said  to bring longevity and a successful marriage. This silk is sleek and crisp, very thin and light, with a soft sheen and lustre. It's just the same front and back and is a very smooth silk ikat. The colors are contrasty, consistent and strong; there's no fading or variance at all. It's in pristine condition except for some tiny notches on the selvedges which you can see in the photos. Sometimes there are none for several yards, and in other parts of the bolt they may be about every 12" apart. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the never used, vintage bolt. 100% Silk Japan.
