Dreaming in Green Unusual Silk Handwoven Obi, from Japan, 11.5" x 190" #256
Rich jungly greens, blue-greens, purplish browns and golds, like an elegant tie dye, but created with hand-brushed bokashi, blending the colors of this truly artisan textile. It's thick, strong, fairly stiff as obi need to be, but still soft on the surface, supple and heavy. It's the same on both sides, one layer, and we are told this is a quite old hand-woven obi, not just the silk for an obi. We see no fading, damage, or stains; it's in excellent condition. There is short, cream silk fringe on both ends. There is a thin crease down the center from being folded, on about 90" of one end, which you can see in the last photo. It may steam out. This obi measures 11.5" x 190" long, (so, over 5 yards long) and weighs 21.5 ounces. 100% silk obi from Japan, age unknown. If you love unique extraordinary textiles, whatever you're thinking, it's probably better. We LOVE this one.
