Black on Black Jacquard Chirimen Crepe Kimono Silk from Japan, By the Yard, #333
The very subtle jacquard designs may be depictions of beautifully wrapped gifts; they're created with detailed, complex jacquard, woven into the silk, in several different stitches every 3-5" apart. In certain lights, some of the stitch patterns get even blacker, and some turn almost silvery. The solid ivory 3/4" 'kamon' circles would be for the owner of the future kimono to add their family crest; there may be a few in the bolt, on the edge, so you may get one or two. Liquid drape, flowy, smooth, softly textured with crepe "rivulets", soft and sooo supple true black chirimen crepe. The details in the black-on-black jacquard designs are hard to photograph, so we've made some of the images purple to show you. (Fabric is blackest black!) This silk is in perfect condition, unused, on the bolt and may be fairly new. 100% Silk. Japan.
