Black on Black Invisible Clouds/Waves Jacquard Drapey Kimono Silk Crepe from Japan, 14" x 44" # 413

Storm clouds and crashing waves?  The jacquard is complex, with several different weaves, creating a nearly hidden appearance in several different designs; some larger, some smaller, on each piece. No doubt they were placed so that they'd show up in just the right place on the body in the finished kimono. Black on black, so they are subtle but look closely; they're beautiful. They may be in the center of the width or on either side. The largest ones are about 9" x 4", the smaller ones around 6" x 2". They're more or less visible depending on the light, but are quite subtle.  We lightened or colorized the photos to show the design better; this crepe is truly dark deep rich true black.  Luxurious, flowy, lightweight, drapey, supple, finely pebble-textured silk crepe, high end, beautiful condition. This piece is from a dis-assembled kimono, probably from the 1970's. 100% Silk. Japan. Size is 14" x 44" with 7 jacquard Clouds/Waves areas, spaced a few inches apart.
