Pottery, fabric, food, teapots, temples, lush plants, hills and streams, bamboo, shops, people living their lives. This bingata chirimen crepe finally came our way; they are harder and harder to find, especially the lightweight, drapey, flowy, supple, grainy, chirimen crepe silk ones, like this. Bright orange, greens, blues, ochre, a little black and gray, on creamy off-white chirimen background. To us, the many different, vibrant greens are the strongest color overall and really make this bingata gorgeous. It may be hand-stenciled - we see minute differences in the same image from repeat to repeat which is one way to tell.  On the back, the images show but not as vividly. The last photo shows the crepe detail; the twisted silk strands create 'rivulets' in the weave. 14" wide and sold by the full yard, we'll cut yours in one piece from the never-used, probably vintage bolt.  It's in pristine condition. A treasure.  100% Silk. Japan.
