SALE Dark Red Very Rustic Airy Handwoven Hemp Antique Obi? from Japan, #606

This textile is so coarse and crisp we are assuming it was woven from local plants, probably hemp, and dyed with natural dyes, woven by hand probably quite long ago. The weave is quite open, airy and very very rustic. It measures 11.5" wide x 5 yards long and weighs just 11 ounces.  Some parts have stripes, diamonds and other geometrics. Some are just dark red, so it may be an old obi. It's in great condition - stable and strong, not ready to tear or dissolve. We're pretty sure it's a rare treasure.  Japan.
