This brown and pale ivory print "Good Sign" features a stunning hand-drawn abstract illustration by Naomi Ito, and is printed on a 100% cotton double gauze. There's also a bit of black and sparkly, subtle light teal.

Two layers of light, soft cotton gauze are tacked together, adding a bit of opacity, even more softness and a wonderful texture. The print spans the 41" width of the fabric; the whole width is shown in the second photo.  Soft, lightweight and breathable, double gauze is good for loose pants, shirts and tops, nightwear, dresses, wraps and other clothing, baby clothes and blankets, household accessories, etc.

100% Cotton Double Gauze.  Width 41".  From Japan. New, not vintage.  Limited Supply and sold by the full yard. Minimum order 1 yard. Yours will be a continuous piece cut for you from the bolt.  $22.00/yard.

  • Construction: Double gauze is made by stitching two thin layers of cotton gauze together at regular intervals. The loose weave of each layer, combined with the double layer, gives the fabric a bit of a spongy, fluffy, or springy feel. Sometimes they get more crinkly over time. This one, unwashed, isn't crinkly.
  • Opacity: Double gauze is semi-opaque and can be see-through in lighter colors.
  • Care: Hand or machine was delicate/cool. Tumble dry low or air dry. Double gauze requires a lot of pressing, especially after washing. It's recommended to use a cotton setting on the iron and to apply a lot of steam. Pre-washing/drying the fabric is also important, as is the way you plan to launder the finished garment. Expect a lot of shrinkage as the open weave gauze closes up.
