Not shiny, no sharp edges, they are satiny and smooth. Two holes and 1/4" thick, but they scoop in to 1/8" on the short side, which makes the design more interesting. Plastic from Europe, they are machine washable and dryable. New stock, but limited supply - the manufacturer has discontinued these. Ten for $10.00
