Shibori Obiage Scarf for Obi, LIght Green-White Very Textured Silk, 56" Long #256
Sometimes worn above or over an obi, or as scarves, this is an obiage with wonderful intense dimensional shibori work. Very textured, much more so than a kimono fabric would be because it has not been steamed smooth. Two 18" long portions are shibori and puckery. The ends and about 15" of the center are not; they're sleek blended ombre green to off-white jacquard, 14" wide, with glistening connected hexagons. The entire piece of silk itself is/was 14" wide, and is shibori puckered to just 7-8 inches. The back is quite similar but the tiny shibori spots aren't the same or as pointed. Sleek, smooth, supple, flowy and drapey (before the shibori) 100% Silk. Japan. One of a kind. In perfect condition, age unknown.
