Roses or Peonies? Liquid Drape Dusty Mauve Vintage Artisan Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #325

  • $15.00

Only 12 left!

Liquid drape Dusty Rose-Mauve silk, with arrangements of peonies; or are they roses? - through the bolt. Each time they appear they change a bit from the previous few; there may be one, two or three blooms or buds. Individual roses are about 3-3-1/2" across. There are blurry-edge white lighting bolts (?) swooshing down from the edges. There is also a jacquard in the base silk; the designs look like thin long gracefully curved leaves or grasses. They're hard to see at first but add a very subtle sheen and texture.  The silk is incredibly drapey and sleek, soft, smooth, flowy, supple and luscious. The old price tag is still attached: the 12-yard bolt was marked at 173,000 yen, which today would be $1,188.00.  There is slight fading and light brown selvedges in the first yard; the rest seems to be excellent condition. Per yard, there will always be 2 or 3 groups of flowers. We think the whole bolt is hand painted and we don't see an exact repeat. 14" wide and sold by the full yard. Your piece will be continuous.     100% Silk. Japan.
