Tropical Books in Flight on Gray Chirimen Crepe Kimono Silk, Liquid Drape, By the Bolt from Japan #322

Liquid drape Chirimen silk crepe in dove gray, with colorful tropics-themed books appearing throughout the bolt. Most of the books open a bit,  revealing some of their secrets.  They are placed so that the kimono would showcase the artwork in specific areas on the body. This bolt has 9 designed areas, in various sizes from about 4" x 4, (one book) up to the largest one (nine books, first photo) the entire 14" width and 24" in length. They are spaced from less than a yard apart to a few yards apart, with solid gray lustrous Chirimen crepe in between. There are photos of each one. This chirimen crepe has a beautiful texture, hand, color and drape. Pebbly-textured from the twisted silk fibers, a dry hand and a bit of fine speckled silver shine from the weave. It's smoother and more lustrous than many chirimen and may be a Tango chirimen. Pure silk, light, flowy, very supple and drapey. 14" wide and about 12 yards long, in very good condition, never used, vintage or older. You'll get the whole joyous poetic bolt. Label indicates it's woven from raw silk.
