Remnant, 1-1/8 Yard Piece, Charcoal/Black Mystery Symbols Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan #772
Mostly black and white, until you look a little closer. There's a nearly invisible checkerboard pattern, in which every other 3-1/2" square also has red and gold in the design. There's so much black it's hard to see. This kimono silk is thin, soft, mid-lightweight, a bit crisp, with no drape. It has a bit of body and a bit of texture, a 'cottony' type of silk, probably raw silk Tsumugi or similar. No shine at all. Reads from a distance as charcoal and black. The back is the same; the design is in the weave, not printed. 14" wide and was sold by the full yard from the unused, excellent condition, vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan. This piece is 1-1/8 yard long.
