Red Clay / Ecru Hexagons Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan, By the Yard, #102

Reddish brown and cream combine in this intricate true ikat with lots of slubs and texture. Hexagons or tortoise shell images are various sizes, shapes and designs; it's an incredibly difficult ikat weave with so much detail. In the light, the deeper reds come out as iridescence. Wow!  Both sides are just the same in this soft, thin, quite textured, slightly crisp, lightweight 100% Silk from Japan. It has body, not drape, and is smoother and softer than it looks. It was probably hand dyed and handwoven, decades ago.
