Midnight Blue / Black Woven Tortoise Shell/Hexagons, Thin Soft Yarn-Dyed Kimono Wool/Silk from Japan By the Yard, #320

  • $14.00

Smooth and soft, light and thin for wool because of its 23% Silk content. Tiny nested hexagons, known as kikko in Japan, are midnight and true black. Those are the only two colors in the weave.  Overall it reads as midnight blue/indigo, a bit lighter in color on the reverse. No shine, but a very smooth surface that feels more silky than wooly. No sheen, no slubs. It's not crisp at all; it's quite supple. It's heavier than most kimono fabric but not heavy or thick.  It's fairly new, possibly not vintage. Labels indicate it was meant for 'mens ensemble'. 15" wide, sold by the full yard and we'll cut yours in one piece from the beautiful condition bolt. 77% Wool, 23% Silk. Japan.
