Heavy Thick Brown/Black Stripe, Quite Old Silk from Japan By the Half Yard #264
This silk is thick, stiff and heavy, reminiscent of canvas. It must be hand woven, designed for obi. It's the same on both sides, the colors are quite even throughout; not much fading. Rustic, with no shine at all, it has a subtle, softly wrinkled crinkle, and the base weave is a checkerboard, also subtle. The thick black stripe has lighter black oval shapes woven in. In some spots the selvedges are frayed as you can see in the photos. 11.5" wide and sold by the half yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the 3.5 yard bolt. Tribal, gorgeous. Age unknown. (Old!) Silk from Japan.
