Wine Ikat Soft Slubby Rustic Kimono Silk by the Yard #472511
Deep red wine color silk with stripes in white and yellow, geometric ikat designs in red, yellow and green, plus soft-edge 'white' cherry blossoms. Very soft and slubby; feels like thick silk noil. It has fine slubs and no shine. We are told it was hand woven. Textured from the slubs, on the heavy side for silk, with a bit of body. It's a difficult ikat and the cherry blossoms have intentionally blurry edges and their white is woven with gold and red creating a diffused white. Wine color varies a bit, not from age but with some lighter wine silk in horizontal rows per the photos. 10" between rows of cherry blossoms. Same front and back. Vintage unused kimono silk from Japan.
14" wide. Sold by the full yard and we'll cut yours in one piece from the bolt. If you're first, the beautiful fringe and white border are yours too.
