Vintage Kimono Wool from Japan, Rustic Indigo / Red By the Yard #492
Deep navy blue indigo color, possibly real indigo, muted red, green, yellow, gray and teal, all with feathered edges and a pastel, blurry look. Teal/turquoise hexagons contain red and gray-petaled flowers. There are red crosses in between them, and lots of smaller shapes adding life and color. It's packed with color, but all the colors are subdued with the dark indigo color which speaks by far the loudest - this wool is soulful, tribal indigo. From a distance it reads as deep blue-violet. There are lots of rustic slubs in all the colors, including lots of light gray, almost white nubs. The red is slightly towards dark pink. Thin, not soft, 'wooly' rustic surface, wool-lover's 100% wool has body and a bit of crispness. A true ikat, and probably quite old, it's the same on both sides. It is stunning. 14" wide and sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours from the vintage, never used bolt. Japan.
