Liquid drape, textured, parchment-toned chirimen silk crepe is a katazome komon bolt. The bingata work was done by pressing the plant dyes including indigo into hand-made stencils, bit by bit. A bingata like this can take weeks or months to make. The people are at play; their clothes are wonderful and you can sense their happiness. This is a Hama Chirimen which is famous in Japan for its quality. These exceptional bingata chirimen silks are becoming more rare and this one is a treasure. It's several decades old, has been stored carefully and is perfect condition, vintage kimono silk from Shozo Iketani, Japan.
