The base silk is a sleek, glowing satin with a jacquard in the weave. The jacquard pattern mimics the tiny green, orange and gold cherry blossoms in the print, but in the jacquard they turn white in the light, in beautiful contrast to the glowing cream of the base fabric. The print is absolutely delightful, with bright orange kites, created with true shibori, flying above the cherry trees. Tree branches are gray and appear to be stenciled by hand. Drapey, sleek and glistening, this silk was once part of a kimono and is in perfect condition. Japan.
