Still Tied Bolt of Old Kimono Silk: Olive / Red / White Ikat #771 Japan
This bolt of thin, light silk is in excellent condition and seems quite old. Its surface is soft and smooth, with a bit of sleek glisten and no slubby texture at all. There are skinny stripes and every few inches an ikat design - perhaps kites - in red and white which are brighter and pop a bit more than the photos. The weave is tight and fine. It folds to 14" x 4" x 1" and weighs 12.4 ounces. It's tied with what looks like the original red and white cotton floss, and there are no tags. In counting the folds it's around 12.5 yards. 14" wide. Order "1" for the still-tied bolt. We're 99% sure it's 100% Silk, hand dyed with plant dyes, homespun, hand woven in Japan over 60 years ago.
