This light, fine, flowy, soft, slightly sheer silk sari from India is about 5.75 yards long. The "Main," 4.75-yard-long portion's print is a very small, detailed, gray, green and white calico design, with orchid purple background and 4" paisley borders on both selvedges. That's most of the sari, all but one yard. Next to it is the fancier, warmer-toned Pallu portion, one yard at the end, with finely detailed ornate paisleys and a bronze-gold color in the print as well. As with most saris, the main portion, the pallu and the borders are all one piece of fabric.  There is in this and most saris, another piece of fabric involved, though. It's called the Fall, a long strip of 5" wide light cotton or silk in a solid coordinated color, sewn to the inside bottom edge of the sari. It helps the sari hang and drape properly, and to protect it from damage when walking.  It's on the first approximate 2 yards of the "Main" portion, behind the border, on one selvedge, sewn so carefully it's basically invisible from the front. Like a partial lining, in a way.

This vintage, lightly loved sari is in excellent condition. The front looks perfect to us; on the wrong side, the Fall has a few minor spots.  It's not what we would call Habotai and does not have liquid drape; though light, it's almost crisp. Yet very finely woven. The print on both sides is vivid and strong and we can't tell the difference.  This sari is a bit more than 5.75 yards long and 43" wide, 100% Silk from India. Weight about 8 ounces.  Order "1" for this one of a kind sari.
