October Stream Crepe Vintage Kimono Silk, 13.5" x 63" #4456
Several greens, ochres and rusts, turquoise, and bright red-orange with creamy tan, undulating shapes forming ponds, hills and streams. This is similar to many bingata silks and was probably done with rice-paste resist and stencils, by hand. The colors may be all or partly from natural local dyes. Sweet flowers and leaves are floating in the waters, and large blossoms are growing on the shorelines. This thin, almost crispy vintage crepe has a dry hand, a bit of body, less drape than most chirimen crepe, and a subtle rivulet-like crinkle. Mysterious and gorgeous! This vintage kimono fabric was formerly part of a kimono which was dis-assembled for us and is in beautiful condition. Japan.
