Rust Abstract Floral Fukureori Piece 13" x 77" Japan Vintage #3325
The name of this complicated jacquard technique is fukureori, which refers to the technique that results in an embroidered look and a slightly puckered texture. It's an extra-fancy jacquard matelasse, and very difficult to execute. Abstract work in warm chocolate browns, olives, coppers, rust. This mid-weight, drapey, not shiny, unique art silk is incredible! The 'wrong' side is not as textured, has deeper tones and sharp, light streaks creating the flowers. Pure silk, vintage Japan. Stunning!
Decades ago, this silk piece was part of a kimono, which was taken apart by hand for us. This piece is 13" x 77"
