Tea Ceremony Chirimen Crepe Kimono Silk by the Yard (470786)
Vintage chirimen silk crepe in perfect condition, with a wonderful print with 'netsuke' or jujube-shaped tea case, and tea pots. The crepe texture is strong and this silk is very textured, with a dry hand, a bit of crispness and no shine. It's slightly heavy, for silk. The print is a bingata, done by hand with stencils. Natural plant-derived dyes are painted and/or palette-knifed onto the silk and blended, through the stencils. The ~1" x 1" diamonds are rust, the background warm taupe, and there are blues, reds, purples, greens, browns. Pure vintage kimono silk from Japan. Bingata are getting harder to find and this one is very detailed. It's probably quite old and in beautiful condition.
14" wide. Sold by the full yard, we'll cut yours in one piece from the bolt. If you're first, you'll also receive the beautiful end of the bolt with Japanese characters on solid rust.
