Gold Mums & Butterflies on Blue/Black Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan, 13" x 63" Piece #4686

Depending on the light, the background is either darkest blue-black, or black. Chrysanthemums and butterflies in Fall tones, outlined in gold. The base silk has a jacquard of overlapping tiny waves that adds slight glisten and texture. This silk is a bit heavier than most of our kimono silks, but still lightweight, flowy, drapey, supple and soft.  On the back, the print is blurry and not as strong. These pieces were, decades ago, parts of a kimono. The kimono was recently taken apart stitch by stitch for us, and the pieces cleaned and pressed, ready for you to re-use as you wish. This exact print will never be available again - as with most kimono silks, the artisan weavers only made enough for one kimono. Excellent condition. 100% Silk. Japan.
