Not shiny, no sharp edges, they are satiny and smooth. Two holes and 1/4" thick, but they scoop in to 1/8" on the short side, which makes the design more interesting. Plastic from Europe, they are machine washable and dryable. New stock, but we only have one set - the manufacturer has discontinued these. Eight for $8.00
