Black/Red Deer Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk Handwoven Tsumugi from Japan By the Yard #511
Woven with black and bright red-orange, for an overall dark burgundy/russet look, this kimono silk has geometric diamonds with a deer in each one. This double ikat is an authentic hand woven silk Tsumugi from Japan, originally created for a kimono. Tsumugi silks are a beloved treasure silk in Japan and the high quality standards they have adhered to for decades make them well known for kimonos that last for many generations. The silk is very soft and smooth, a bit crispy with body, tightly woven of 100% fine silk. It does not have a light color cast - we apologize for the lighting in a couple of the photos - in reality the red-orange and black create a russet look that is striking and beautiful. It's a true ikat so both sides look the same. Vintage kimono silk in pristine condition, 14" wide and sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours in one piece from the old, unused bolt. Japan.
Our supplier in Japan says: "This is a pure silk and hand woven Tsumugi (right side says certificated 100% silk).
The manufacture "Kinu no Shirabe" would offer a great hand woven mixing the traditional craft and modern style in high quality."
