Chocolate Strawberry Mochi Textured Rustic Stripe Vintage Kimono Fabric By the Yard # 534
Blended stripes in tones of pinkish mauve, browns and black. Textured abstract woven stripes run lengthwise through the bolt. From Japan, but reminds us of the Southwest's Canyonlands in the moonlight. This fabric is thin and light, slightly crisp, with no shine and a little body. It's a vintage fabric originally meant for a kimono, and there are no labels. Our guess on the content is wool/hemp: it feels like pure wool but is a bit more crisp and holds a crease more than most wool. Though it looks like silk, it doesn't have silk's softness. The black weft is wool. It's in excellent condition, the same on both sides and probably handwoven. One selvedge has wonderful small black loops; see last photo. 14" wide, sold by the full yard, and we'll cut yours in one piece from the vintage, never used bolt. Japan.
