Liquid Drape Bingata Chirimen Crepe Silk from Japan, 14" x 63" Piece from a Vintage Kimono # 532

Beautiful bingata traditional kimono print with a peach background and lots of reds and blues, white, pinks, blue-gray. These pieces were formerly parts of a kimono which was disassembled for you to re-use the silk. It's in excellent condition, and is light, thin, supple and flowy with liquid drape. It has the classic chirimen crinkled pebbly texture and is fine, not too deep. We see no areas on the back where the dye has soaked through, so it may not be a true hand-stenciled bingata. Or it may be partly done by hand. The slight fold lines down some of the edges were previously seams, and in our experience they should iron out easily. Otherwise pristine condition,  100% Silk. Japan. Much better than the photos: the print is very clear, crisp, detailed and perfect.
