SALE Purple/White Silk/Wool Crepe, Vintage Kimono Small Print By the Yard #736
Endless tiny white dots on purple make up this faux patchwork Komon print, with what we think are images of antique scrolls with decorative paper covering, on which a 'book' would be transcribed. They are small and subtle, and appear about every 7" through the bolt. The purple color, with all the white in the print, appears softened and muted. This fabric feels quite like silk chirimen crepe - the same light weight and thickness, grainy, with fairly deep crepe ridges, a dry hand, very drapey and supple. No shine at all. However, the label clearly says 45% Silk, 50% Wool, 5% Nylon. The back is much lighter in color with less detail in the print and just as much chirimen texture. This is the most finely detailed Komon we've seen and the wool/silk blend is unique, too. Sold by the full yard and yours will be in one piece, cut from the never-used, excellent condition, vintage bolt. 14" wide. Japan.
