Tall temples in the forest with a mountain stream.  High-contrast rich, even, true black, plus gray and white. This silk is thin, smooth, sleek, a bit heavier than most kimono silk but still lightweight. It is strong, almost but not quite shiny, slightly crispy, soft to the touch and not drapey. It has body. The back looks just the same. This is a vintage, excellent condition, never used bolt designed for a kimono. Oshima Tsumugi is culturally and historically important and cherished in Japan. It is hand-dyed, hand-woven, time-consuming and difficult to produce. The pattern is created in the ikat weave, and the dyes are made from mud from the volcanic island of Oshima. Kimonos from Oshima Silk are often worn for many years, are known to be beautiful, comfortable and durable, and are frequently passed down as heirlooms. 14" wide, sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours in one continuous piece. 100% Silk. 21" Repeat. Japan.
