Peach / Green Shibori Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan with Lining By the Yard #857
Pale peach all-shibori with green flowers winding through the bolt. The shibori was done by hand and each design element has a different shibori size and shape to create the design. There are dyed pale blue-gray shadows highlighting the green in some places. The silk is fine quality, lightweight, thin, supple and soft, flowy and drapey. There is a very sheer light white silk lining loosely basted onto the back, probably to prepare the silk for storage or cleaning for stability, to protect the time-consuming shibori work. This shibori silk is in such beautiful condition it's possible it was about to be cut and sewn into a kimono. The lining is so light and fine, that if it was not extending 1" beyond one edge, you'd barely know it was there. It's yours to either leave for subtle stability, or remove. The basting stitches are quite long and loose. The base silk has a jacquard of tiny speckly dots, millions of them, adding a beautiful glisten. Almost 14" wide, perfect condition, sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours in a continuous piece the length you order, from the never-used vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
