Parchment Hexagons Rustic-Fancy Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #623

  • $18.00

Only 13 left!

Golden brown, antique look, complex, highly decorated ikat with colorful, auspicious, good luck, longevity and happiness symbols within Kikko tortoise shell hexagon shapes. An arrow/feather design appears quite a bit. In the weave there are browns, orange, blue, green, black and white. The background is quite rustic, clearly handwoven, slubby and a little shiny, with a surface and weight similar to shantung or dupioni. It's a bit iridescent, thin and crisp. It's not heavy, but not as light as most vintage kimono silks, and has body. No drape. A true ikat, both sides are the same.  14" wide, sold by the full yard and we'll cut yours in one piece from the vintage bolt. We see no problems with its condition but the selvedges, as in many old fabrics, are a bit wavy, not flat.  Exceptional 100% Silk. Rare? Japan.
