Oshima Leaves Print Vintage Kimono Silk By the Yard # 738
Japanese Oshima silk is beloved for its softness, crispness, luxury quality and exceptional comfort when worn. It has been a Japanese treasure for hundreds of years. Oshima kimonos are so important in Japan that they usually stay in the family and are worn, in beautiful condition, for many generations. The silk is very tightly woven, of the highest quality, dyed with natural dyes. This black and off-white Oshima silk is a print which is unusual; they are more often an ikat weave but this one has the same thin, crisp, extremely smooth, soft hand. 100% silk, lightweight, with body and no shine, and traditional Oshima sleekness. The back is off-white with the print barely showing. Sold by the full yard and yours will be in one piece, cut from the never-used, excellent condition, vintage bolt. 14" wide. Japan.
