Red Tulip Faux Patchwork Print, Vintage Kimono Silk Blend By the Yard #915
Sleek and smooth, this large-scale faux patchwork is mostly small dots, plus solid dark brown, almost black. Earth tones - mustard, greenish gray, tiny dots of green. Large, bright red tulips have an almost Art Deco look - and their squares have sides, like cubes. Lots of right angles and squares, some areas not quite straight with the grain. The brown is so dark it's almost black. It's inspired by an Oshima or similar ikat, but it's a print, and very smooth and sleek. Lightweight, very thin, slightly crispy, with a rustle and a bit of shine. The vendor thought pure silk but we think it may be a blend; it doesn't hold a crease as strongly as most silk. Thin and sleek enough for linings. It may be quite old. 14" wide and sold by the full yard. Yours will be in one piece, cut from the never-used, excellent condition, vintage bolt. Silk or silk/poly blend. Japan.
