LAST PIECE, Mud Dyed Blacks, Reds, Browns OSHIMA Vintage Kimono Silk From Japan PIECE 1-2/3 yards long # 780
Swirls, symbols, geometric designs and flowers hide in the dark grays and blacks of this smooth silk ikat from Japan. It's wonderfully smooth, typical of Oshima Tsumugi but more supple; it's almost drapey. Thin and light, it's not crisp and does not have body. The reds are a little stronger than the photos, and this silk ikat is the same on both sides. Oshima Silks are usually dyed with mud and handwoven, which we assume for this one. There are some tiny snips on the selvedges as if it was being prepared to be cut and sewn into a kimono, and otherwise is in excellent condition. 100% Oshima Silk. Japan.
This is the last of this silk, it's 14" wide and 1 -2/3 yards long. It's cut from the never used bolt. Order "1" for the piece.
