Gray/Black/Red Rustic Handwoven Kasuri Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan by the Yard # 819

This rustic silk true ikat is smoother and finer on the front, with more white showing on the 'back', but both sides are interesting and full of character. It's possible what we're thinking is the back, the weaver intended as the front. True red, black and white to visually create gray.  Thin and light, soft, supple, with a bit of body. It feels smoother than it looks; the hand, weight and feel is much like yukata cotton. The slubs are smooth, especially on the 'front'. The back is slightly more textured and rustic. 14" wide, in excellent condition from the unused vintage or possibly older, bolt. Handwoven. Looks like it could have been woven in Taos. Sold by the full yard, and we'll cut yours in one piece to the length you order. 100% Silk.  Japan.
