Dark Red Very Rustic Open Handwoven Antique Obi? from Japan, #606

One of the most unique offerings we've had, this piece is so coarse and crisp we are assuming it was woven from local plants and dyed with natural dyes, woven by hand probably quite long ago. The weave is quite open and very very rustic. It measures about 11.5" x 5 yards and weighs just 11 ounces.  Not all of it has the stripe design; some is just dark red, so it may be an old obi. It's in great condition - stable and strong, not ready to tear or dissolve. We're pretty sure it's a rare treasure.  Japan.
