Woven Rectangles on Plum Vintage Lightweight Kimono Silk from Japan by the Yard, #362

Pairs of half-inch cream-outined rectangles, with one of their corners intersecting, all done in the weave. There's a tiny bit of black in the weave, so the richness of the plum is even stronger. There are heavier cream threads on certain edges of certain rectangles now and then, clearly one of the highlights of this art textile.   This silk is so thin it's almost featherweight, not totally opaque when held up to the light. It's supple and has a soft drape, but not quite flowy. No sheen at all, no body, and quite smooth. Both sides are just the same. This is a never used, vintage bolt designed for a kimono, in excellent condition. 14" wide and sold  by the full yard. We'll cut yours in one continuous piece from the bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
