Clearly handwoven with beautiful character, open weave burlap. Maybe persimmon dyed? The selvedges are perfect with no needle holes or any indication that it was ever sewn at all. Possibly it's an old obi sash? No tears, stains, or other issues. Hemp is durable and this piece, while very rustic, is structurally strong and in good condition. We are told Hemp/Silk and we would agree. 14" wide and 117 inches long. It weighs 9.5 ounces. Order "1" for the piece. Magnificent. Collectible old obi fabric? Japan.
