SALE, Blossoming Clouds Oshima Tsumugi Pongee Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan, By the Yard #139

The base silk is off-white/ecru, with red, blue, green, bright teal, orange and black. They look dreamy and muted once the ikat is woven with so much off-white. This Tsumugi is thin, supple, mid-lightweight. It's soft to the touch and not shiny at all; it's a cottony-feeling silk. A true ikat, the back looks just the same. This is a vintage, never used silk designed for a kimono, which has been carefully stored for many decades. 27" repeat.  It's in excellent condition. 14" wide, sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours in one continuous piece. The labels are gone but we are 99% sure it's a true Oshima Tsumugi Pongee, hand-dyed, hand-woven, difficult to produce, probably mud-dyed.  100% Silk. Japan.
