Red Jungle Cottony Kimono Silk 'Batiste' By the Yard #216
True red, purples so dark they blend with black, some brown tones and a raisin color, with fine cream outlines and millions of tiny cream dots throughout. The print seems tropical, lush and warm. It's packed with flowers and foliage, and so perfectly detailed and well designed, and with such contrast in the colors, that it doesn't seem cluttered or dark at all, just full and bounteous. This silk is a texture we rarely see; it's a very lightweight, thin, smooth, plain weave that is so soft it almost seems like cotton, and will be as easy to sew as light, tight quilting cotton. The closest type of fabric we can think of would be batiste. But this is probably better. It does not have silk's typical drape or slip, and is not crispy at all. It's nothing like Oshima silk; no rustle, no sheen. The weave is so tight and smooth it's like touching skin. You will fall totally in love with this silk; I wish we could get more like this. It seems like it would be heavenly to wear. The back is nearly white; the print doesn't come through at all. Vintage kimono silk in beautiful like-new condition, never used and still on the bolt. 14" wide. Sold by the full yard, and we'll cut yours in one piece from the bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
