Pottery from Japan in Dark Brights, Old Chirimen Crepe Kimono Silk. 6" x 73". #4503
This print depicts beloved richly decorated porcelain plates from Japan, in saturated, dark colors. There are several greens and rusty oranges, blues, yellow, taupe, and blue peeking through in between some of the plates. Most of the plates are around 5" - 5-1/2" diameter. This darkened coloration is rare for kimono silk, and we're told it "may be older than vintage." Gorgeous, with a very pebbly, grainy texture. This 100% silk Chirimen Crepe has a dry hand and no shine. It's drapey, supple, flowy, lightweight, in excellent condition from its former life as part of a kimono. Japan.
