Burnt Orange Abstract Silk, Matelasse Japanese Fukureori Piece 10" x 50"
The name of this complicated jacquard technique is fukureori, which refers to the technique that results in an embroidered look and a slightly puckered texture. It's an extra-fancy jacquard matelasse, and very difficult to execute. Abstract work in bright pumpkins, oranges, golds, amber, reddish browns, and a bit of olive. This mid-weight, mid-drape, not shiny, unique art silk is incredible! You may also like the back side, with its sharp, light streaks.
Decades ago, this silk piece was part of a kimono, which was taken apart by hand for us. This piece is 10" x 50"
