Black/Browns Floral Ikat, Vintage Kimono Silk By the Yard from Japan #339

This very complex double ikat has a deep, solid, true black background with flowers and scenery in burgundy, gray, browns and greenish browns. All the colors are woven with black too. It's thin, smooth and soft with a bit of sheen. A little on the heavy side compared to many kimono silks, it is crisp, with a rustle and body.  It's a true ikat and both sides are just the same. This kimono silk is in perfect condition, sold by the full yard, and we'll cut yours in one piece from the never-used vintage bolt. The tags are gone but we think it's Oshima Tsumugi which would mean mud-dyed, very special, and handwoven. Much nicer than the photos; all the different colors of silk thread didn't photograph well. 14" wide.  100% Silk. Japan.
