Black/Black Vintage Obi Silk from Japan, By the Yard #032
This black on black complex jacquard obi silk has several kinds of flowers within octogons and rectangles, created with many different weaves. It has wonderful light-play and motion; some of the flower petals have complex, slightly raised jacquard designs that are intricate and quite beautiful. BUT all the designs nearly go away depending on your angle and light. Then as you move they show up again; they're all done with blackest black silk. No other colors. It's stunning! The photos intentionally accentuate the patterns so you can see their layout and detail, but remember they're not really that strong; much more subtle. This obi silk is elegant, high-end, heavy and thick for silk, for an elegant obi. It's quite stiff, with body. Still attached and easily removable is the original 1" round gold tag, which we think certifies this silk's origin from a high end obi silk house in Japan.
13.5" Wide. Sold by the full yard. If you buy "2", you'll receive the whole piece which is 2+ yards plus a bonus: An extra 6" with the pattern, plus two pieces of plain heavy black silk without the pattern, one 46" long and one 55" long. All in one piece.
Vintage obi silk in excellent condition, never used, from Japan.
