Imperfection and Impermanence Crepe Kimono Silk Pieces 13.5" x 24" #4003
Rust, orange and olive silk print depicts small picture cards of flowers and birds. Each card has at least one torn corner; unfinished, imperfect, or damaged - all beautiful as we learn from wabi sabi. My friend who owned this silk says 'in Japan we find imperfection very interesting.' This supple, drapey chirimen crepe silk has a very textured pebbled surface, a dry hand and no shine at all. The back is mostly dark orange and blurry olive, with the print barely showing. Vintage kimono silk from a former life as a kimono, this chirimen crepe silk is in beautiful condition. Japan.
